Interesting extra bits
Ever wondered what it's like for the people who work on the show? Well, we asked a few of the lovely cast and crew of The Chase for their memories...
Stephen Gilbert - Veterinary Consultant
As Veterinary Consultant on the second series of the Chase, I gave advice on story lines and production planning, including on the involvement of a four month-old lion cub and a semi-feral otter - the series really did involve all creatures great and small. A highlight for me was working with leading prosthetics model creators in designing the latex interiors of animal bodies for the surgery scenes. These prosthetic models were realistic and expensive, and I can remember a very nervous assistant producer when a prosthetic fox hound costing thousands of pounds was investigated on location by a full pack of real fox hounds. Luckily the pack behaved professionally, and this day produced some of the most beautiful and moving scenes of the series.

Jonathan our sound recordist and a particularly affectionate fox hound.
Andrew Kirk - Writer (series two episodes 4 and 11)
Writing on The Chase was great, the team were really creative and taught me a lot about writing drama. I think my favourite scene out of my episodes was the one where Rick cycled over the hill with a huge teddy bear on his bicycle. I always thought it might end up on the cutting room floor but it didn’t! I also enjoyed writing the scenes between Rick and Harriet, mainly because they were all about being a Dad.
Michelle Holmes - Claudie
With thanks to Kay Mellor, Claudie was a dream come true, corsets, high heels, short short skirts and long blonde hair. 40 and playing someone who thinks she's 25, I laughed all day every day filming "The Chase" With Rollem productions and the crew it's a job I will never forget!!

Gillian Slight - Production Desginer
Life in the Art Department on The Chase could never be described as dull or predictable! One minute you could be called on to design a lavish ball in a grand stately home, the next, a glass enclosure for a lion.... in the middle of a Leeds suburb, the next a fake Labrador womb full of rubber puppies for a caesarian operation! All in a day's work!
Deborah (Janet Dibley) getting to grips with a rubber pup!
Brett Wilson - Line Producer
The episode with the otter was an interesting one to shoot! The otter was supposed to be 'tame and harmless' but proceeded to bite its handler. Now that was funny. Never work with children and otters.
Kirsty Halton – Writer (series 2, episode 9)
Writing was a lot of hard work (and coffee) but the whole team were incredibly creative and enthusiastic so I had a really good time. I have many happy memories, but can't help feeling a little guilty about dashing Deborah's hopes of becoming the next Lady Montgomery. Sorry Deborah!
